Summer Internship Application for Tradistae

Tradistae is seeking a volunteer intern for Summer of 2021 (mid-June to early September)

Qualifications: We are looking for a practicing Catholic with an active prayer life and a firm desire for sanctity. The applicant should have both traditionalist and social justice sensibilities, that is, an orthodox adherence to all doctrines of the Church and a dedication to the liberation of the poor. Applicants should be generally familiar with the Social Magisterium, integralism, distributism, liberation theology, and the Catholic Worker Movement. Both men and women are welcome to apply. Finally, all applicants must have an aptitude for writing, editing, and working with digital communication.

Time commitment: This is a part-time internship with a minimum expectation of 10 hours/week. Preference will be given to interns interested in dedicating more hours to Tradistae.

Location: Remote work is entirely acceptable, but in-person work would be a blessing. Applicants who are interested in joining the Catholic Worker community in Lancaster, PA, where several other volunteers and friends of Tradistae either live or congregate at, will be considered as potential summer guests. There are many local opportunities for employment.

Expectations:  Writing, editing, and publishing Easy Essays, sending emails for potential interviews and collaborations, communicating via Slack with members of the Catholic Social Action network, creating and editing audio recordings, updating the website, assisting with research (especially Social Encyclicals), or other tasks as needed.

Stipend: The intern will be provided by a small monthly stipend corresponding to the money donated by the patrons of Tradistae minus the amount required for the cost of hosting the Tradistae website and podcast.

How to Apply: To apply, please use our contact page and briefly answer the following questions. You will also be expected to submit a letter of recommendation affirming that you are a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. The deadline for application is June 15th.

Applicants should respond to the following questions in their submission:

  • Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? Briefly explain your personal background.
  • How did you learn about Tradistae?
  • What radicalized you, both in terms of your Faith and your politics? Provide details.
  • What does your prayer life look like? Provide an overview.
  • Do you have a regular confessor or spiritual director? Briefly describe.
